Who We Are

The Greenville Police Department is a nationally accredited law enforcement agency that provides a full range of high quality law enforcement services through a departmental philosophy of community-oriented policing. As a growing, progressive agency the Department continuously implements innovative techniques and methods to protect and serve the expanding community. This highly motivated department currently employs more than 200 sworn employees and approximately 50 civilian employees who serve with the utmost professionalism in the various bureaus, divisions and units.

Requirements

Applicants Must:

  • Be at least 20 years old.
  • Pass a rigid physical examination.
  • Be a high school graduate or have passed the GED.
  • Be of good moral character with no disqualifying criminal offenses.
  • Be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Be able to obtain a North Carolina Driver’s license.

Applicants Must Complete The Following:

  • Background Investigation
  • Drug Screen Oral Interview Process
  • Physical Evaluation – Police Officer’s Physical Agility Test (POPAT)
  • Psychological Evaluation
  • Polygraph Exam

Automatic Disqualifiers

Applicants Must Not:

  • Have used marijuana (legal and illegal) within the past three (3) years.
  • Have used other controlled substance use within the past five (5) years.
  • Have any felony convictions over the age of 18.
  • Have received any DUI’s in last two (2) years.
  • Have received two (2) DUI’s in last five (5) years.
  • Have received more than 5 traffic violations in last three (3) years.
